Myanmar Climate

Myanmar’s climate can be described as tropical monsoon with strong influences of a considerable amount of sun, a high rate of rainfall and high humidity that makes it sometimes feel quite uncomfortable. The annual average temperature ranges from 22oC to 27oC year-round.There are three main seasons:

- March to May: the whole country is intensely hot, especially in the afternoon when temperature is around 35 degree Celsius. You are unlikely to see any rain. It is advised to plan sightseeing in mornings or evenings or visit the beaches or mountainous areas.

- November to February: the cool season and the ideal time to visit the country. You will enjoy lower temperature (around 30 degree Celsius) and less rain, but it can be busy at the major tourist places.

- June to October: is the monsoon season with high rainfall lasting for days, especially in the Bay of Bengal coast, in Yangon and the Irrawaddy Delta. In September and October, the rain is less and you will experience more sunshine. A perfect visit is in Bagan, Mandalay and Shan states where it isn’t raining much. There aren’t many tourists around during this time and the landscape is so green, it’s Myanmar at its best.
