Located 25km from Luang Prabang, Pak Ou Cave is home to thousands of Buddha images in different sizes. Being a place of worship for hundreds of years, this is one of the most revered holy sites in Laos. Today, we will board a lazy cruise along the Mekong and spend a day out among the peaceful riverside landscapes and local village. Other highlights are several handicraft villages along the way. A river excursion to the cave is one of the best quick trips you can make out of the town.
Morning, your guide picks you up at your hotel and start a tour to visit Pak Ou Caves. You’ll embark on a leisure cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which gives you a breathtaking view of the tranquil countryside, before reaching the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by pilgrims. Along the way, you’ll stop at the village of Ban Muang Keo, where they make the local rice wine. Wander around the village, talk with local people and watch elephants riding guests passing by or just sit down at a restaurant viewing to the river, you’ll feel lost in the peaceful moment. Return to your hotel and finish tour.
