Enjoy a scenic drive through the rich farming land of the Red River delta to one of northern Vietnam’s holiest sites. Then take a leisurely boat ride amongst some admittedly stunning limestone and a hike up mountain to reach the Perfume Pagoda, which is situated in a cave.

Morning, our guide will meet you at your hotel and transfer out of Ha Noi to Chua Huong (Perfume Pagoda), one of the most famous pagodas in Vietnam, is located in the Huong Son (Perfume Mountain) which takes 60 km from Hanoi to the Southwest of Hanoi by road.
The driving time is approximately 2 hours. Arrival, walk about a 15-minutes to the boat ramp, or you can take a “xe om” if wanted. Then take a small boat that usually rowed by women, boat time is about 2 hours, we reach the foot of the mountain. From the boat dock, you will hike about 3km to the main pagoda where great numbers of Buddhist pilgrims come during Tet holiday in the middle of the second lunar month.

Perfume pagoda is not one temple but a cluster of temples and shrines in the general vicinity of Perfume Mountain. According to the book “Huong Son Thien Tru Pha”, Perfume temple was built during the reign of Le Chinh Hoa (1680 -1705), by a monk who happened on the site on his way to search for enlightenment. Other shrines and temples were later built in this area since attracted by the beautiful scenery. Please note that the path to the summit is steep and very slippery when it’s rain. Luckily, there is now a cable car service so you can combine to use the cable up and then walk down if you like. Afternoon, return to your hotel in Hanoi
