Arrival Vientiane airport, Arrival airport, please go to custom desk as your first point of entry to get visa-on-arrival into the country and pay stamping fees directly by cash to custom office there then guide will pick you up outside and transfer to the city for check in.

On the same day in the afternoon, explore Vientiane including some main temples such as Vat Ho Prakeo used to be the house of the Emerald Buddha and Wat Sisaket crossing the street and where more than ten thousand of Buddha images are being placed. We continue to Pratuxai, it was Arc the Triumph of France. Afterwards, climb up to the top to get a great view of the city. End the tour with the visit to Golden Stupa, well known as That Luang Stupa and believed to contain a relic of Lord Buddha. Return to hotel.

Patuxai Monument

Patuxai, literally meaning Victory Gate or Gate of Triumph, is a war monument in the center of Vientiane. It was built between 1957 and 1968 to dedicate to those who fought in the struggle for independence from France. Resembling the Arc de Triumph in Paris, it is located at the end of Vientiane’s major avenue and boasts a typical Laotian design. The interiors and exteriors are decorated with richly painted walls and ceilings featuring mythological creatures.  

That Luang Stupa

Svelte and golden Pha That Luang is the most important national monument and also the most sacred monument in Laos; a symbol of Buddhist religion and Lao sovereignty. Legend has it that Ashokan missionaries from India erected a (stupa) here to enclose a piece of Buddha's breastbone as early as the 3rd century BC.

Kayak to Ban Hatkhai

Morning, transfer from Vientiane to Ban Hatkhai in Phou Khao Khouay National Protected Area, where we start cycling to Tad Xay Waterfall. During the ride, enjoy some great views over Nam Mang and Mekong Rivers on the way. After a picnic lunch at Tad Xai, swimming is possible at the falls or a trek under an evergreen canopy be suggested. You continue to walk until you meet Nam Mang River more upstream where we start kayaking to Ban Hatkhai. Take a soft rest then we transfer back to the city center of Vientiane.

Afternoon, you’re transferred to airport for flight to Luang Prabang. Flight time is approximately 50 munities.

Luang Prabang

The ancient town of Luang Prabang situated in northern Laos, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. Today, take a traditional wooden boat upstream to visit the famous cave of Pak Ou. The cave locates just right on the cliff; it’s a very impressive and stunning sight. Inside the cave, there are more than one hundred Buddha images which have been brought by local people since the early 14th century when the cave was found. On the way, stop shortly at Ban Muang Kham, which specializes in river weed making. Next, a stop will also be made at Ban Xanghai where you can enjoy the taste of the local rice wine. Lunch will be served on the terrace facing the Nam Ou River (lunch not included)

After lunch, drive to Kuang Si Falls, located 30 kilometers south of Luang Prabang. The many tiered waterfalls have scooped out small basins of turquoise color. You can cool off with a refreshing swim in the pools and hike around the falls if wanted. Return to Luang Prabang and on the way back a stop will be made at one of the local villages.

Pak Ou Caves

The Pak Ou Caves are the most revered holy sites in Laos. Located on the Mekong River, this famous attraction is near Luang Prabang and is a great river trip that offers a pleasant excursion through the riverside landscapes and local villages.  

Kuang Si Waterfall

The Kuang Si Falls, sometimes spelled Kuang Xi or known as Tat Kuang Si Waterfalls, is a three tier waterfall about 29 kilometers south of Luang Prabang. They begin in a shallow pool atop a steep hillside that leads to the main fall with a 60 meters cascade.

Temple of Wat Xieng Thong

Luang Prabang's or the “monastery of the golden city” is Laos best-known and most visited monastery. This magnificent masterpiece was designed of the Luang Prabang style and features an elaborate tree of life mosaic, carved walls, rare Buddhist deities and a 12-metre high funeral carriage. Wat Xieng Thong is located close to where the Mekong meets the Nam Khan River, acting as a gateway to Luang Prabang. One of the most interesting features is the rare reclining Buddha that dates from the year 1560 when the building of the temple started.

Vietnam Museum of Ethnology

Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is both a research center and a public museum, exhibiting the ethnic groups of Vietnam. It also serves as a center for scientific research, collection, documentation, conservation, exhibition and preservation of cultural and historic patrimony of Vietnam’s different ethnic groups.
On the grounds are examples of traditional village houses of different ethnic minorities – a Tay stilt house, an impressive Bahnar communal structure and a Dao home. Don’t miss the soaring, thatch-roofed Giarai Tomb, complete with risqué wooden statues.  

Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex

This complex is a special place of pilgrimage for many Vietnamese who visit the area to pay homage to Hoi Chi Minh, leader of modern Vietnam. It is a traffic-free area of botanical gardens, monuments, memorials and pagodas. Within the complex are Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, Ho Chi Minh’s Stilt House and the Presidential Palace, as well as the Ho Chi Minh Museum.  

The Old Quarter

The Old Quarter is the heart and soul of the city. It first appeared in the 11th century after King Ly Thai To built his palace. Initially, as a group of workshop villages surrounding the royal palace, it then gradually transformed into craft cooperatives, thereby gaining its reputation as the business trading area of the Red River Delta. Constructed in a long and narrow style, the streets are a must when visiting Hanoi, as they provide an interesting adventure.

 

Hoan Kiem Lake

Legend claims that in the mid-15th century, Heaven sent Emperor Le Thai To (Le Loi) a magical sword, which he used to drive the northern invaders from Vietnam. After the war a giant golden turtle grabbed the sword and disappeared into the depths to restore the sword to its divine owners, thus inspiring the name Ho Hoan Kiem (Lake of the Restored Sword). Every morning, local residents practice traditional tai chi on the shore.

Ngoc Son Temple sits on an island in Hoan Kiem Lake. The ramshackle Thap Rua (Turtle Tower), set on an islet near the southern end, is topped with a red star and is often used as the emblem of Hanoi.

One Pillar Pagoda

The One Pillar Pagoda was originally built in 1049 by the Emperor Ly Thai Tong, who ruled from 1028 to 1054. The pagoda was built to honor the emperor’s peasant wife who bore him an heir. Built of wood on a single stone pillar, the pagoda is designed to resemble a lotus blossom, the symbol of purity. The original pagoda was destroyed in 1954 by the French upon their withdrawal from Vietnam. The present day pagoda was rebuilt by the government in the following year.  

Temple of Literature

Known as Vietnam’s first University and located 2 kilometers west of Hoan Kiem Lake, the Temple of Literature is a rare example of well-preserved traditional Vietnamese architecture. Founded in 1070 by Emperor Ly Thanh Tong, the temple is dedicated to Confucius and honors Vietnam’s finest scholars of literary accomplishment.

Visitors are welcomed by an imposing tiered gateway that leads through the gardens and to the Khue Van Pavilion, constructed in 1802. The northern side of this courtyard is marked by a low-slung pagoda housing an extraordinary statue of a majestic Confucius, depicted with a goatee and bearing scarlet robes, flanked by four of his disciples.

Kayaking in Halong Bay

Morning pickup at 8:00 AM from your hotel for transfer to Halong Bay, which is about 160 km or 3.5-hour drive away. The transfer is approximately 3 hours. You will see some rural areas of the Red River Delta with plenty of chances to take photos of Vietnamese farmers working in paddy fields and you may stop on the way to admire the local scenery.

Arrive in Halong City at 11:30 AM and check in aboard the booked junk right after the welcome drink is served. Start cruising while having lunch on board and enjoy the mighty bay view.

Halong Bay meaning Descending Dragon Bay in Vietnamese as legend has it that it was where a holly dragon landed down from sky. The bay, famous as one of the world’s wonders and heritage sites whose formation dates back 500 million years, consists of around 2,000 karst islands and islets scattered over an area of 1,553 km2.

After lunch, take a short trek to a nearby summit for a panoramic view of the bay dotted with golden sails, go swimming on a quiet beach or sunbath on the sundeck. Later in the afternoon, you will visit an interesting fishing village with an opportunity to interact with local people who have been living in the bay for almost three generations. Perfume River

The Perfume River (Vietnamese: Sông Hương) runs through Hue. Its name comes from the fact that it flows through many forests of aromatic plants be-fore reaching Hue, bringing with it a pure and fresh aroma.

Thien Mu Pagoda

Built on a hill overlooking the Perfume River, 4km southwest of the Citadel, Thien Mu Pagoda is considered a symbol of Hue. The Pagoda was originally founded in 1601 by Nguyen Hoang, governor of Thuan Hoa province. Over the centuries, its buildings have been destroyed and rebuilt several times.
Its 21m-high octagonal tower, Thap Phuoc Duyen, was constructed under the reign of Emperor Thieu Tri in 1844. Each of its seven stories is dedicated to a manushi-buddha.
The Pagoda itself is a humble building in the inner courtyard, past the triple-gated entrance where three statues of Buddhist guardians stand at the alert. In the main sanctuary behind the bronze laughing Buddha are three statues: A Di Da, the Buddha of the Past; Thich Ca, the historical Buddha (Sakyamuni); and Di Lac Buddha, the Buddha of the Future.  

Tombs of King Nguyen’s Dynasty

The Dynasty of Nguyen in Vietnam consisted of thirteen emperors. Only seven royal tombs remain in Hue nowadays: they are Gia Long, Minh Mang, Thieu Tri, Duc Duc, Dong Khanh and Khai Dinh. The architectural style of these tombs follows rigid regulations relating to natural environment and geographical ob-jects, such as rivers, mountains, ponds and lakes, streams and particularly to what is termed “mysterious palace” – the architectural focal point of all struc-tures built during the Nguyen Dynasty.  

Imperial Citadel

Most of Hue’s sights and a sizeable chunk of its population reside within the 2m-thick, 10km‑long walls of its Citadel on the north bank of the Perfume Riv-er. Built between 1804 and 1833, its ramparts are encircled by a moat, 30m across and about 4m deep, and there are 10 fortified gates. The water in the moat is routed from the Perfume River through a series of sluice gates. This enclosure is the Citadel. Inside the Citadel is the Imperial City, with a perime-ter wall some 2.5 kilometers in length. Within the Imperial City is the Purple Forbidden City, a term similar to the Forbidden City in Beijing. Access to the innermost enclosure is restricted to the Nguyen Imperial family

Museum of Trade Ceramics

The Museum of Trade Ceramics showcases the origins and history of the town and the region in the context of historic trade and relationships with foreign nations such as China, India, Japan, the Philippines and Thailand. Japanese Covered Bridge

This beautiful little bridge is emblematic of Hoi An. A bridge was first con-structed here in the 1590s by the Japanese community in order to link them with the Chinese quarters across the stream. The entrances to the bridge are guarded by weathered statues: a pair of monkeys on one side, a pair of dogs on the other.  

Tan Ky Old House

Located at 101 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Tan Ky House, constructed almost two centuries ago by a Vietnamese family, has been lovingly preserved through sev-en generations. The owner of the house has preserved its interior design and old furniture, as well as many relics of the prospering trade and cultural ex-changes among the Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese during the late 17 cen-tury. My Son

The site of Vietnam’s most extensive Cham remains, My Son enjoys an en-chanting setting in a lush jungle valley, overlooked by Cat’s Tooth Mountain (Hon Quap). Featuring about 20 structures of the most important intellectual and religious center of the kingdom of Champa it may have served as a burial place for Cham monarchs. It was rediscovered in the late 19th century by the French, who restored parts of the complex. My Son is today a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Ben Thanh Market

The most central of all the markets, teeming Ben Thanh and its surrounding streets comprise one of the city’s liveliest areas. Central Post Office

Right across the way from Notre Dame Cathedral, Ho Chi Minh City’s striking French post office is a period classic, designed by Gustave Eiffel and built be-tween 1886 and 1891. Painted on the walls of its grand concourse are fascinat-ing historic maps of South Vietnam, Saigon and Cholon, while a mosaic of Ho Chi Minh takes pride of place at the end of its barrel-vaulted hall.

Built between 1877 and 1883, Notre Dame Cathedral rises up romantically from the heart of HCMC’s government quarter, facing Ð Dong Khoi. A brick, neo-Romanesque church with two 40m-high square towers tipped with iron spires, the Catholic cathedral is named after the Virgin Mary. The walls of the interior are inlaid with devotional tablets and some stained glass survives. English-speaking staff dispense tourist information from 9am to 11am Monday to Sat-urday.  

War Remnants Museum

Once known as the Museum of Chinese and American War Crimes, the War Remnants Museum is consistently popular with Western tourists with an exten-sive collection of exhibits relating to the Vietnam War. The museum is housed in the former US Information Service building. Captions are in Vietnamese and English.  

Reunification Palace

Independence Palace, also known as Reunification Palace was the home and workplace of the President of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. It was the site of the end of the Vietnam War during the Fall of Saigon on April 30, 1975, when a North Vietnamese Army tank crashed through its gates.
Designed by Paris-trained Vietnamese architect Ngo Viet Thu, it is an out-standing example of 1960s architecture, with an airy and open atmosphere. The complex covered an area of 12 hectares, including a palace with an 80-meter-wide façade, a guest-chamber capable of accommodating 800 people, with a spacious gardens covered by green trees and a lawn.  

Cu Chi Tunnels

Far afield 70km to the northwestern city lay the incredible Cu Chi Tunnels. It is actually a defense system of 250 km of connecting underground tunnels built by Vietnamese resistance fighters during the long time of struggling for independ-ence. The tunnels now are widened and turned into a war memorial park with two other display sites. Not only exploring the tunnels itself, visitors also have the chance to fire AK47s and M16s at a shooting range on site. The site can be visited within a day from Ho Chi Minh.

Mekong Delta

The ‘rice bowl’ of Vietnam, the Mekong Delta is a landscape carpeted in a dizzying variety of greens and slashed with mighty waterways. My Tho

Gateway to the Mekong Delta, My Tho is the capital of Tien Giang province and an important market town, although to visit the famous floating markets, you’ll need to continue on to Can Tho.
My Tho's proximity to Ho Chi Minh City means it's a popular day-trip destina-tion for a taste of river life – a flotilla of boats tour the local islands and their cottage industries daily. The riverfront makes for a pleasant stroll and the town is easily explored on foot.
My Tho was founded in the 1680s by Chinese refugees fleeing Taiwan after the fall of the Southern Ming Dynasty. The economy is based on tourism, fishing and the cultivation of rice, coconuts, bananas, mangoes, longan and citrus fruit.
